For those looking for a remote, rustic experience, Thompson's Resort offers guests a fly in package to Hickson for a self guided three day/three night excursion. Guests depart Thompson's Resort and take a quick 30 minute flight to Hickson Lake. Hickson lake has an elevation of 432 meters and lies to the east of Church island. This outpost is located in a sheltered bay, can accommodate up to eight people and comes equipped with boats and motors to explore the area. In addition to exceptional lake trout fishing, this lake features over 100 pre-contact pictographs on the rock cliff faces that border the narrows joining Hickson and Maribelli lakes. The pictographs are important examples of a rock art tradition that extends throughout the Shield from Quebec to the Northwest Territories. The vibrant red ochre figures of humans, animals, artifacts and geometric shapes express an Indigenous cosmology where the natural world is permeated with spirit powers, and humans have a sacred relationship with the environment. It is the most scenic outpost Thompson's Resort has to offer.
