Our favourite places to see the sunrise in Fiji

Fiji is a perfectly romantic setting to watch the sunrise; here, you can be one of the first in the world to watch the start of the new day.

Fiji is a perfectly romantic setting to watch the sunrise; here, you can be one of the first in the world to watch the start of the new day.  Those brand-new days are spectacular in Fiji, as you'll discover in your first moments on the island.  If you're flying in on the convenient Fiji Airways flight from Los Angeles, then the sun will rise to greet you as you arrive, welcoming you to the islands with a burst of bright colour.

Here are some of our other favourite ways to appreciate the early morning in this tropical archipelago:

Take an early morning helicopter tour for an unforgettable view of the sunrise over the Mamanuca Islands, a string of islands that stretch for miles northwest of Vitu Levu.  Your helicopter ride could even end with you arriving at your Fiji bure (bungalow) on a private island.

Watch the purple and orange burst into the sky as you cruise out to the beautiful Yasawa Islands and find your very own white sand island for the day.  Then snorkel the morning away before enjoying a picnic lunch.

Take a drive along the Coral Coast and meet the fisherman selling his day's catch of the day along the roadside.  Then continue  on and bargain with a local at the Sigatoka Market and experience true island life!

Head to Taveuni - known as "Garden Island" - if you get here, you really will be one of the first people in the world to experience the day's sunrise: it's one of the few points in the world where you can stand on the International Date Line.

If you're on Taveini Island, get up early and hike to a nearby waterfall to watch the sunrise at Bouma National Heritage Park.  This is one of the most beautiful natural spots to explore on Earth - and also home to some incredible biodiversity and amazing things to do (a natural rock waterslide, anyone?)
